You are already here! Sector 17 is the beating heart of Chandigarh. It's a huge, pedestrian-only open-air plaza filled with great shops, street food, and musical fountains. It's the perfect place to just sit on a bench, enjoy a cup of coffee, and watch the city go by in the evenings.
2. Zakir Hussain Rose Garden
Distance: A short 5-10 minute walk.
If you love nature, you're going to adore this place. Spread across 30 acres, it's packed with thousands of beautiful rose bushes and towering trees. We highly recommend taking a quiet morning stroll here before breakfast—it’s incredibly peaceful and smells amazing when the flowers are blooming.
3. Sukhna Lake
Distance: About 10-15 minutes by cab.
Sukhna Lake is the soul of Chandigarh. It's a stunning man-made lake sitting right at the foothills of the Himalayas. You can rent a paddleboat, go for a run on the jogging track, or just sit by the water and watch a beautiful sunset. It's a must-visit spot to truly feel the vibe of the city.
4. The Rock Garden
Distance: Just next to Sukhna Lake.
There is nothing quite like the Rock Garden anywhere else in the world. It’s a massive outdoor exhibition area completely built from industrial and home waste (like broken bangles, ceramic pots, and glass). It feels like walking through a secret, artistic maze. The kids love it, and honestly, the adults do too!
